Equations and Formulae Information
The Department for Education (DfE) and Ofqual have confirmed that students taking exams in 2025, 2026 and 2027 will not need to memorise the usual formulae for GCSE Maths, and the physics equations for GCSE Physics, GCSE Combined Science: Trilogy and GCSE Combined Science: Synergy. This means that full equations and formulae sheets will be provided for these subjects in the 2025, 2026 and 2027 exams only.
We can also confirm that we’ll provide formulae sheets for our Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics (8365) exams in 2025, 2026 and 2027 as well.

Pre-Public Examinations (PPE)
Pre-public examinations prepare students for their exams and allow the students to gain the experience and routines associated with sitting their exams. Teachers use the results of these exams to identify the help that students need to be successful in their GCSEs or A levels.

JCQ Exam Contingency Days
What are JCQ exam contingency days?
- The JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) requires that exam boards include contingency day(s) in the exam schedule.
- These are pre-planned days reserved in case national or significant local disruption prevents an exam from taking place.
- If such disruption happens, an exam may be moved to a contingency day. Because of this, students are required to remain available until the contingency day(s) even if their normal exam schedule ends earlier.
JCQ contingency day(s) for exams: 24/06/2026 - Students *must* remain available for this date.
Results Days 2026
- 13/08/2026 - GCE
- 20/08/2026 - GCSE

The nominated person will need to bring with them a signed authorisation form (please see below) and their photo ID.
Certificates achieved by students in year 10 are usually retained, to be handed out with the certificates they achieve in year 11. If you require them earlier, please contact - katrina.meadley@shs.starmat.uk
