Key Stage 3
Sherburn students will experience D&T for 2 - 3 hours every two weeks in Years 7 and 8, during these
lessons they will learn about Food and Nutrition and Product Design. Each project will follow the design
process and will involve students making a number of products to take home.
Food, Preparation and Nutrition
Students will learn about how to design and make food products using a variety of ingredients in addition to looking at existing food. Students will be taught basic food preparation and making skills as well as health and hygiene.
This course involves the study of resistant materials e.g. wood, metal and plastic; their properties and uses in everyday life. Design skills such as technical drawing and presentation will be learnt and used.
Students will also experience working with mechanisms and programming though the use of Lego Technic.
