CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY - KEY STAGE 4
Food, Preparation and Nutrition
This subject allows specialisation in a focused area of food technology. Students will learn about designing
and making a saleable food product through the development and modification of existing products and the
application of food technology theory.
Students will be taught to apply their knowledge in the evaluation of commercial practices and food products.
The course is broken into three sections;
Investigation assessment
Making and experimenting with foods and ingredients will focus on students' understanding of the working characteristics, function and chemical properties of ingredients.
Food preparation assessment
Students' knowledge, skills and understanding in relation to the planning, preparation, cooking, presentation of food and application of nutrition related to the chosen task.
Students will prepare, cook and present a final menu of three dishes within a single period of no more than 3 hours, planning in advance how this will be achieved.


Resistant materials
This course allows candidates to carry out designing and making activities through metal, plastics and wood.
This course will enable students to demonstrate their design and technology capability, and it requires them to combine practical skills with knowledge and understanding to design and make quality products.






Product Design
We also offer Product Design at GCSE, this course is aimed at preparing students for our Product Design A-Level course and is an exciting combination of design presentation and practical skills.
In this course students will study product design issues such as classic design or various design movements as well as how many products are manufactured using the latest techniques and materials.
