SIXTH FORM - HOW TO APPLY
The application process
Q: When and where is the Open Evening? What is the process for applying?
Open Evening - 2nd December 2019
An opportunity to visit the school and speak with staff and current students about the subjects on offer at our collaborative Sixth Form. The Open Evening will take place in the Main Hall at Sherburn High School from 6pm until 8pm. There will be a presentation from the Head of Sixth Form starting at 6:30pm.
Representatives from Tadcaster Grammar School will also be in attendance.
Prospectus’ will be available giving details and entry requirements of courses on offer at the collaborative Sixth Form.
Students will be asked to complete an “Early Indication Form” to give an initial idea of which subjects they may wish to take to inform the first stage of curriculum planning.
Taster sessions - 18th December 2019
Year 11 students currently at Sherburn High School will be given the opportunity to spend a day doing Post-16 lessons of their choice – a really invaluable opportunity to see what Sixth Form life is really like!
GCSE results day - 20th August 2020
The big day arrives, and you will come into school to collect your GCSE results!
Once you’ve done this, you will need to sign up to the Sixth Form to let us know you’ll be coming in September. This often happens in the Sixth Form Common Room, but there will be more details in the run up to the results day.
Applicants from other schools are welcome to come and speak to the Post-16 team on this day with their GCSE results, but please contact Mr. Kirby (firstname.lastname@example.org) to make an appointment if you wish to do so.
Induction/ registration day - September 2020 (Date TBC)
Sign up for your courses on this day, and you’ll be ready to go!
Q: Does the school give priority to applications from pupils enrolled at particular schools?
We would warmly welcome applicants from students not currently enrolled at either Sherburn High School or Tadcaster Grammar School. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive Sixth Form.
However, please note that applicants from either Sherburn High School or Tadcaster Grammar School will be given priority when applying for places on courses for the collaborative Sixth Form but there is often sufficient capacity to support additional students.
