
Sherburn
pupils will experience D&T for 2 hours per week in years
7-9, during these lessons you will learn about food technology,
graphics,
textiles and resistant materials. Each project will follow the
design process and will involve pupils making a number of products
to take home!

Food
technology
Pupils
will learn about how to design and make food products using a variety
of ingredients as well as, by looking at existing food. Pupils will
be taught basic food preparation and making skills as well as health
and hygiene. |

Graphics
This
subject involves how we design a product and present our designs.
We will look at form, function as well as technical graphics. Pupils
will investigate a range of techniques ranging from rendering to
colour selection to presentation. Pupils will also use our rapidly
developing and extensive ict and cad/cam facilities. |

|
Resistant
materials
This course involves the study of resistant materials eg. Wood,
metal and plastic, their properties and uses in everyday life.
Design skills such as technical drawing and presentation will
be learnt and used. |

Textiles
Pupils are given the opportunity to develop a range of skills
using both hand and machine techniques for fashion, accessories
and
furnishing route. Pupils will also learn knowledge and understanding
of textiles materials, components, processes. Within the
D & T
Department textiles technology is thriving.
