This subject allows specialisation in a focus area of food technology.
Pupils will learn about designing and making a saleable food product,
through the development and modification of existing product and
the application of food technology theory. Pupils will be taught
to apply their knowledge in the evaluation of commercial practices
and food products.
Graphics
Graphics is offered at GCSE in years 10 and 11. Learn how to communicate
ideas through sketching, notes and technical drawing techniques.
Students work with a wide range of drawing equipment, developing
their ability to communicate visually.
Resistant
materials
This course allows candidates to carry out designing and making
activities through metal, plastics and wood. This course will
enable pupils to demonstrate their design and technology capability,
and it requires them to combine practical skills with knowledge
and understanding to design and make quality products. Projects
are usually related to storage projects such as games storage
or music storage etc.
Textiles
Textile Technology GCSE is offered in years 10 and 11. In year ten students
carry out experimental work in decorative processes and manufacturing techniques
making a soft furnishing product and an accessory or garment.
In year 11 students carry out a 40 hour project in either fashion or interior
design from a small selection of given briefs. If they have a particular interest
a brief can be created for them.
