The Psychology Department

Psychology is the study of human mind and behaviour. To do this effectively it uses a variety of methods in a wide range of areas. Psychology is a naturally interesting and stimulating subject.

The new AQA specification introduced this year incorporates ares of psychology such as abnormality, developmental, cognitive psychology, relationships, research methods, sleep and stress.

The course is assessed with four exams two at AS and two at A2. Along the way you will learn new skills of analysis, enquiry and assessment, more than likely a bit about yourself too. As a department we are fully committed to engagement of learning and preparing you for all the challenges that studying psychology and A Level brings.

The opportunities for using your psychology studies are endless as psychology provides with a varied subject base with skills used in the workplace. They can be applied to any job that involves working with people.
   
 

Many career choices are applicable to psychology e.g. the police force, the healthcare sector, teaching, counselling and therapy, human resources and working with the elderly, disabled and children.
