Four
teachers were asked to read a favourite piece of poetry or prose
to our Wednesday Club students. They were then marked on the quality
of the reading, effort made and their choice of text. A grand
final was held on March 2nd where all contestants had to face
a panel of judges who marked them according to the answers they
gave. Miss Barker was the winner but unfortunately was unable
to face the judges as she was ill but gallantly Mr Ralphs came
to her rescue and took her place. His humour and skill at answering
the questions obviously swayed the judges and they awarded him
first prize. Each member of Wednesday Club had a role to play
in the organisation and delivery of Book Factor, they excelled
themselves by providing a thoroughly enjoyable event for staff
and the student audience. This was a great event and also an opportunity
for students and staff not only to interact informally but also
to join together to promote reading for pleasure.
